What Types of Special Accommodations are Given for the YAELNET Test?

Accommodations that may be given for the YAELNET Test

  • Extra time for part or all of the test
  • Breaks during the test
  • Accommodations for physical restrictions: for example, a table or accessories that make it easier to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Typing the essay
  • Listening to recordings of test sections
  • Taking the test in a separate room
  • Taking a pencil-and-paper, rather than a computerized, test
  • Permission to be accompanied by another person who will sit outside the test hall

  • Use of an electronic dictionary
  • Exemption from any part of the test
  • Receiving explanations of questions or answering orally
