Retaking the YAELNET Test with Special Accommodations

The law prohibits NITE from assigning you to a test with special accommodations unless you submit an explicit request. This is true even if you received special accommodations for a test given on a previous test date. Therefore, unless you inform NITE of your desire to retake the test with special accommodations, we will not be able to confirm that you are eligible for special test accommodations and you will be tested under regular conditions.

Note! If you are submitting a request because of a physical or mental limitation, it is important to make sure that documentation sent to NITE is current, i.e., issued no more than a year before the date of the test for which you are registered. If the professional opinion you submitted previously was not issued in the past year, you will need to provide a new one.

If you received special accommodations in the past for a test administered by NITE, you will be asked to select one of the following three options at the time that you register for YAELNET:

  1. take the current test without special accommodations
  2. retake the test with special accommodations based on documents that were submitted in the past
  3. retake the test with special accommodations and provide additional documentation for review by the Special Test Accommodations Unit

If you chose to take the test without special accommodations, you may follow the regular registration process.

Reapplication on the Basis of Existing Documentation

If you opted to reapply for special accommodations on the basis of documents already on file, you must complete the registration process. You will receive an SMS with confirmation of receipt when processing of your request begins and the test date you selected during the registration process will be canceled.

Please note: If you do not receive an SMS after submitting your request, log back onto the NITE website and make sure you completed the process properly.

Your request will be forwarded to the Special Test Accommodations Unit and reviewed by professional staff on the basis of your documents that are already on file. After your request has been processed, you will receive a response from the Special Test Accommodations Unit and instructions for selecting a new test date.

Note: Any submission of additional documents after you submitted your request for special accommodations is subject to a fee.

Reapplication with Additional Documentation for Professional Staff Review

If you chose to submit documents in addition to those submitted in the past, you must register for the test and after receiving confirmation of your registration log onto the website and submit a request for special accommodations as explained below:

  • Click on the YAELNET test for which you want special accommodations and then on “special test accommodations”. Follow the instructions. There is no need to resubmit documents that you sent in the past.
  • After your request is recorded in the system, you will receive an SMS confirmation of receipt of your request, and the test date you selected during the registration process will be canceled.

Once you chose this option, submitting additional documents or lodging an appeal is subject to a fee.

Please note: If you do not receive an SMS after submitting your request, log back onto the website and make sure you completed the process properly.

Your request will be reviewed by the Special Test Accommodations Unit based on the documents we have on file and the additional ones that you attached. After your request has been processed, you will receive a response from the Special Test Accommodations Unit and instructions for selecting a new test date.

If you do not long onto the website and complete the process within four (4) days of the test date you selected at the time you registered, your test will be given on that date under regular conditions.

You may also submit a request via Israel Post or hand deliver it to the NITE offices. In this case, submit all of the following documents:

  1. Applicant questionnaire, completed and signed twice as required (without this the request will not be processed)
  2. Document list form (without this the request will not be processed)
  3. Medical or diagnostic documents relevant to the reason you are requesting accommodations

Make sure that all photocopies are legible and the original size. Documents that are not legible will not be processed.
Note! Documents will not be returned, therefore send a legible copy and keep the original document.

Address for mail or hand delivery:
National Institute for Testing and Evaluation, P.O. Box 39020, Jerusalem 913001
Documents may only be hand delivered to the information desk at the NITE offices in Jerusalem, between the hours of 8:30 and 15:30 (please mark envelope “Special Test Accommodations Unit”).

You will receive an SMS with confirmation of receipt when processing of your request begins and the test date you selected during the registration process will be canceled. Your request will be reviewed by the Special Test Accommodations Unit based on the documents we have on file and the additional ones that you attached. After your request has been processed, you will receive a letter from the Special Test Accommodations Unit and instructions for selecting a new test date.
